Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment

Experimental Series #5

Glenfiddich whisky is the first single malt in the world to be finished in Somerset Pomona Spirit barrels. It merges the depth of single malt scotch with the delicate sweetness of Somerset orchard apples. The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) relaxed its maturation rules in 2019. This change allowed distilleries to use casks that previously held fruit spirits. The Orchard Experiment pushed the legal boundaries of Scotch production. William Grant & Sons faces strict scrutiny regarding fruit-juice and cider spirit casks in Scotland. Consequently, the company keeps these releases as short-lived anomalies instead of building permanent supply chains.
