GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Spanish Oak Cask Finish
The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series (Batch 3) features this ten-year-old single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery completely avoids chill-filtration and retain the liquid’s natural colouring. Consequently, like the entire Cask Finish selection, this bottle provides a refined, complex drinking experience.
Initially, the spirit matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Afterward, the distillers transferred the liquid to fresh, unseasoned Spanish oak casks. Specifically, coopers crafted these virgin casks from Quercus Robur grown in Northern Spain. Next, the wood air-dried for 18 months before undergoing a medium toast and char. Ultimately, the whisky rested there for eighteen months before the distillery bottled it at 48% ABV. As a result, this process creates a mahogany malt bursting with dried fruits and stem ginger.
Because it utilizes virgin Spanish oak rather than standard seasoned sherry casks, it offers a deep, serious, and uniquely wood-driven sweetness.

- Nose: Decadent sticky toffee pudding and ripe orchard fruits lead the aroma. Warm baking spices, glazed cherries, and dark brown sugar follow closely behind.
- Palate: Velvety mocha choca and honey flood the mouth. A sharp kick of ground pepper, fresh ginger, and thick molasses perfectly balances the sweetness.
- Finish: The flavour lingers long after the sip, tapering off into a smooth blend of sweet sultanas and ripe banana.
