Knockando 1990 21 year Old
Unlike most distilleries that focus purely on age statements, Knockando traditionally emphasizes the specific vintage year when distilling the spirit, making this the ideal gift for the whisky lover’s birthday, anniversary or special year to remember. This official vintage bottling was distilled in 1990.
Knockando after the Scottish Gaelic ‘Cnoc an Dhu’, lies in the heart of Speyside and means ‘little black hill’. Knockando is quite a small distillery, producing less than 1.4 million litres yearly, with the majority of production going into blends, especially J&B. Less than 10% of production is actually sold on as single malt, its biggest markets being Spain and France. It is not particularly well known in the UK so bound to create a interest when seen by guests on your whisky shelf.
Much of Knockando’s production through the years has been as a vintage rather than an age statement, making them well sought after for age related gifts.
Tasting Notes
-
- Nose: Ripe red apples, rich banana, and a thick layer of dusty vanilla custard, opening further into marzipan, warm malt, and a delicate hint of floral heather.
- Palate: Extremely smooth and lightly oily on the tongue. Deep notes of caramel, fresh strawberries, and dark fruits seamlessly balance against building oak char and a warm, peppery spice.
- Finish: Long-lasting and rich with an honest, mature power. It leaves a clean, non-bitter trail of residual fruit and soft oak spices in the mouth.
Size: 70cl
ABV: 43%
Please pay special attention to the photographs for fill level and damage. Because our bottles, corks, and seals vary in age, you must judge the liquid’s condition at your own discretion. We do not refund or exchange items due to damaged corks. Since many of our bottles are pre-owned, they show normal wear and tear. We take great care to provide clear photos of each lot. Please check these images carefully before buying to ensure the condition satisfies you.
