Knockando 1997 – 12 Year Old
This light and delicate official bottling of Knockando was distilled in 1997, and aged for a minimum of 12 years. Knockando after the Scottish Gaelic ‘Cnoc an Dhu’, lies in the heart of Speyside and means ‘little black hill’.
Knockando is quite a small distillery, producing less than 1.4 million litres yearly, with the majority of production going into blends, especially J&B. Less than 10% of production is actually sold on as single malt, its biggest markets being Spain and France. It is not particularly well known in the UK so bound to create a surprise when seen by guests on your whisky shelf.
Much of Knockando’s production through the years has been as a vintage rather than an age statement, making them well sought after for age related gifts.
