Pronounced ‘Cull-eela’, it joined the Diageo line up sometime in the 1990s through a series of mergers and acquisitions. 1997 first seen the introduction of their six expressions Distillers Edition range with Coal Ila joining it in 2006 with a 1993 vintage.
The Distillers Editions are an annual release of the finest single malts, double-matured in batches using individually prepared casks that have held a specially selected fortified wine, chosen to complement the characteristics of each mature whisky. The result is a range of sublime, deeply flavoured single malt whiskies, very much true to their origins, yet possessing a rich depth, complexity and nuance of flavour. (malts.com)
