Flora & Fauna Aberfeldy 15 Year Old
Discontinued from the F&F range in 1998 after Bacardi bought the distillery when Diageo was forced to unload several brands. This was following the merger of United Distillers and International Distillers creating the Diageo behemoth.
After their 1988 success with the introduction of the six expressions of the Classic Malts range, United Distillers sought to capitalise on this with the release of another 22 single malts in 1991. Although not their official name, these became affectionately known as the Flora & Fauna series, due to whisky writer, Michael Jackson referencing it as the style of their labels. The idea was to showcase unappreciated distilleries from the company’s extensive portfolio at the time. The intent was to use collective branding to help them raise each other’s profiles. Despite four further additions in 2001, only a handful of these are still permanent distillery bottlings, making it a highly collectible series.
