Glenmorangie Nectar D’or 12 Year Old was originally released around 2007/2008 as a Sauternes-finished expression. Around 2019, it then transitioned from a 12-year-old to a NAS (No Age Statement) bottle until early 2023 when it was announced that is was going to be discontinued. However, late 2023, another announcement was made that the 12-year-old Nectar D’Or was replaced by Glenmorangie The Nectar 16 Years Old.
The Sauternes-finished, dessert-like whisky was designed by Dr. Bill Lumsden to evoke the scent of a French pastry shop.
- Color: Warm gold.
- Nose: Lime and orange rind, sultanas, and dates, with coconut, nutmeg, and vanilla cream.
- Palate: Ginger, nutmeg, and toasted almonds with a syrupy lemon meringue and honeycomb middle.
- Finish: Long, luscious, and sweet with lemon zest, white chocolate, vanilla, and hints of ginger and nutmeg.
- Mouthfeel: Silky and, at times, oily
