Diageo partnered with HBO in 2019 to launch an amazing collection of 8 limited edition single malt Scotch whiskies. Each of those whiskies represent the great Houses of Westeros and the Nights Watch. The unique characteristics of each distillery inspired connections to the particular places, characters and families from the show. Later in 2019 Mortlach 15 Year Old was released (supposedly) as the final part of the range. Three new Johnnie Walker expressions were added however to finally complete the range, all taking inspiration from the show: White Walker, A Song Of Fire and A Song of Ice.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: The light straw shimmer of this liquid hints at the cask lineage of this Single Malt that is 100% ex-Bourbon casks; that’s confirmed by the heavy Madagascar vanilla opening on the nose followed by a suggestion of sweet, clove spice that develops over time.

Palate: On the palate it’s initially driven by orchard fruits like apple; the clove returns but now with cinnamon as the palate develops.

Finish: The finish moves away from citrus into a red berry compote with vanilla cheesecake and a pronounced cereal spice finish.
