Auchterturra-Stewarts Cream of The Barley????
This was a special bottling released for Scotland the What?—a famous Scottish comedy review show that featured fictional sketches set in “Auchterturra,” an invented Aberdeenshire town. Initially bottled by Wm. Teacher and sons, the whisky was rumoured to be Ardmore. Accurate information is hard to come by, but it is thought that the later Stewart bottling is the same proprietary blend as the famous Cream of the Barley.
Stewarts whisky was discontinued around 2001 after a company restructuring by Allied Breweries (Distillers).
Stewart & Son was one of the highest profile blenders in Dundee. The company being established in 1831 by Alexander Stewart, with trading starting from The Glengarry Inn on Castle Street.-
