This is an older bottling thought to have been bottles in the early 1980s. The red writing on the screwcap distinguishes it from later 80s bottling which were plain black.
Stewarts whisky was discontinued around 2001 after a company restructuring by Allied Breweries (Distillers).
Stewart & Son was one of the highest profile blenders in Dundee. The company being established in 1831 by Alexander Stewart, with trading starting from The Glengarry Inn on Castle Street.
The business was later incorporated as a limited company in 1924 and became part of the Allied Breweries group in 1969.
Stewart’s operated a bottling hall on Dundee’s Kingsway East until the 1990s. Sometime then, its blending and bottling moved to Dumbarton, and then 2005 onwards the company and the Cream of the Barley blend has been in the ownership Chivas Brothers Ltd, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard.
