This expression showcases the traditional, unaltered character of Jura before the distillery modernised its flavour profile. Unlike today’s versions—which rely on heavy Oloroso sherry finishes and delicate peat notes—the distillery strictly matured this old-school classic in Bourbon casks. It delivers a crisp, malty, and purely traditional profile that has completely vanished from the modern core range.
The whisky arrives in Jura’s highly recognisable, trademarked, and uniquely shaped bottle. This specific release features the highly collectible, retro map-style label, which the distillery used long before replacing it with the current Celtic emblems.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Delicate and fresh, leading with aromas of freshly cut summer hay, gentle cereal grains, honey, and old paper oak.
- Palate: Medium-bodied and approachable, offering a sweet malty profile mixed with toffee, vanilla, and sweet breakfast grains, balanced by very subtle coastal maritime highlights.
