Flora & Fauna Benrinnes 15 Year Old
Rosebank joined the Flora and Fauna range in 1991 but just two years later in 1993 the distillery was closed. Existing stocks were used to provide for the F&F range. Diageo no longer own the brand name as this was sold to Ian McLeod Distillers in 2017. The rarity of this will only increase as no more can be produced.
After their 1988 success with the introduction of the six expressions of the Classic Malts range, United Distillers sought to capitalise on this with the release of another 22 single malts in 1991. Although not their official name, these became affectionately known as the Flora & Fauna series, due to whisky writer, Michael Jackson referencing it as the style of their labels. The idea was to showcase unappreciated distilleries from the company’s extensive portfolio at the time. The intent was to use collective branding to help them raise each other’s profiles. Despite four further additions in 2001, only a handful of these are still permanent distillery bottlings, making it a highly collectible series.
