GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Chinquapin Oak Cask Finish
GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series carries on with this ten year old single malt Scotch whisky finished in Chinquapin oak casks! It is non chill filtered with natural colouring, and like all the Cask finish selection, it provides a refined but complex drinking experience. This expression was aged in ex-bourbon barrels, then moved to Chinquapin oak casks, made with wood from the Ozarks in Missouri. The whisky spent approximately eighteen months resting, before being bottled up at 48% ABV. The result is a complex, zesty malt bursting with runny honey, sweet cinnamon and orange peel.
OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES
COLOUR: Rich Mahogany.
- Nose: Bursting with orange zest, heather honey, and pecan, accompanied by notes of butterscotch, nutmeg, and liquorice.
- Palate: Lashings of cinnamon, barley sugar, and toasted biscuits, followed by hints of rose hips, orange peel, and heather honey.
- Finish: A complex finish featuring notes of roasted nuts, baking spices, and a delicate oaky spice.
ABV: 48%
