Gordon & MacPhail Aultmore Single Cask 2005
Refill bourbon barrels allow the natural, distillate-forward character of the distillery to shine through without being overpowered by heavy active oak or sherry sweetness. You can expect a classic Speyside profile heavily defined by crisp green apple, fresh honey, sweet citrus, vanilla pod, and cut grass. The 50% ABV bottling strength delivers a cleaner texture with a light, oily finish.
Bottled for their ‘Exclusive Range’ which is only available direct from their high street shop, which makes these releases hard to get.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Initial spice, cream, citrus pear drops and more vanilla coming through.
Taste: White pepper, spice, buttery oak, vanilla. Light ash and smooth caramel sweetness.
Finish: A long finish with some white chocolate notes and vanilla custard.
ABV: 50%
