J&B -6 Degrees White Whisky
This was released in 2006 under the well known J&B brand, world famous for it’s superior blended whiskies. This expression was an attempt to appeal to the younger drinkers who at the time preferred Vodka. The pale colour of the spirit came from the heavy filtering it received. It was named -6°C referencing the temperature used to chill-filter the spirit in an attempt to disguise the more prominent whisky profile. Also the recommendation that it was served at that temperature, or straight from the freezer. The expression was short lived and lasted only one year when it was abruptly discontinued in 2007.
Despite selling out, this release was not as popular as was hoped, failing to inspire it’s target audience. Nor did it gain traction with traditional whisky enthusiasts. J&B -6 Degrees White Whisky was available for only one year meaning examples of this blend are scarcely seen for sale.
