This official vintage bottling was distilled in 1976, and bottled in 1989. This is the higher 43% ABV version, with there also being another version bottled at the lower ABV of 40%.

Knockando after the Scottish Gaelic ‘Cnoc an Dhu’, lies in the heart of Speyside and means ‘little black hill’.

Knockando is quite a small distillery, producing less than 1.4 million litres yearly, with the majority of production going into blends, especially J&B. Less than 10% of production is actually sold on as single malt, its biggest markets being Spain and France. It is not particularly well known in the UK so bound to create a interest when seen by guests on your whisky shelf.

Much of Knockando’s production through the years has been as a vintage rather than an age statement, making them well sought after for age related gifts.
