Wolfburn 458 Small Batch

Although still a young distillery, Wolfburn was first established in 1821 and is situated in Thurso, on Scotland’s far north coast.

Production ceased in 1850s, with Wolfburn’s new distillery  given the go-ahead in 2012 and is just a short walk along the burn from the old site. With production starting in 2013, their inaugural expression was released in February 2016.

They continue to make their whisky the same way it was always made: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Wolfburn’s whisky is distilled, matured and bottled on-site.

  • Nose – Treacle, coffee, subtle tones of cherry and dried spice. A heady aroma, full of promise.
  • Palate – Almonds, hazelnut, almonds and cloves all present themselves, nicely overlaid with soft peat smoke.  Give it time and the full extent of the flavours will reveal themselves.
Finish –  Hints of spice and treacle sweetness remains show until the end. Mild peat smoke lingers.
