Wolfburn Langskip Cask Strength is a sweet, balanced and beautifully easy-drinking Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Langskip’s strength is matched only by its smoothness. Matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, this whisky has a unique richness and an extraordinary depth of flavour. Bottled at 58% alcohol by volume, Langskip represents the very best of Wolfburn.
Although still a young distillery, Wolfburn was first established in 1821 in Thurso, on Scotland’s far north coast. Production ceased in 1850s, with the new distillery construction starting in 2012. Whisky production starting in 2013, their inaugural expression being released in February 2016.
They still make their whisky the same way it was always made: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Wolfburn’s whisky is distilled, matured and bottled on-site.
Official Tasting Notes:
Colour: Burnt amber.
Nose: Aromas of fruit blossom meld with dried apples and light oak. In the background, you’ll find traces of raisins and dates, mixed with rich fruitcake.
Palate: Flavours burst onto the palate, rich and sweet, including maple syrup, dark chocolate, almonds and raisins. The finish lingers nicely – hints of vanilla gently fade away with a warming trace of caramel at the end.
