Wolfburn Northland Single Malt Scotch Whisky derives its smooth and warming flavours from its unhurried production process and its maturation in American oak quarter casks. The distillery lightly peats the spirit at 5PPM. As the first product to hit the market after the distillery opened in 2013, Northland wrote the first chapter of modern Wolfburn history. Although a young distillery today, founders originally established Wolfburn in 1821 in Thurso, on Scotland’s far north coast. While production ceased in the 1850s, a new team began constructing the modern facility in 2012. Whisky production commenced in 2013, and the distillery launched its inaugural expression in February 2016. The team still crafts whisky the traditional way: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Today, Wolfburn Distillery distills, matures, and bottles every drop of its whisky entirely on-site
Official Tasting Notes:
Colour: Burnt amber.
Nose: Initially sweet with notes of fruit and fresh sea air. In the background, you’ll find citrus freshness and hints of cereal, and just a trace of peat smoke.
Palate: Sweet, nutty tones come to the fore, with hints of grapes and honey in the background. Floral flavours abound, enhanced with just a hint of dried fruit and spice.
Finish: Soft sweet tones fade gradually away, overlaid with just a trace of gentle peat smoke at the very end.
