Wolfburn Northland was the very first product to be released after the distillery opened in 2013, representing the first chapter in the modern Wolfburn history. It remains a staple of the core range from the Thurso distillery. Very lightly peated at 5PPM. Natural colour and non-chill filtered.

The smooth and warming flavours present in Wolfburn Northland Single Malt Scotch Whisky come from the unhurried way in which the spirit is made, and from the maturation, which takes place in American oak quarter casks. Wolfburn Northland is very lightly peated at 5PPM and was the very first product to be released after the distillery opened in 2013, representing the first chapter in the modern Wolfburn history.

This is the older NAS statement that was changed to an 8year old in 2025.

Although still a young distillery, Wolfburn was first established in 1821 in Thurso, on Scotland’s far north coast. Production ceased in 1850s, with the new distillery construction starting in 2012. Whisky production starting in 2013, their inaugural expression being released in February 2016.

They still make their whisky the same way it was always made: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Wolfburn’s whisky is distilled, matured and bottled on-site.

 

Official Tasting Notes:

Colour: Burnt amber.

Nose: Initially sweet with notes of fruit and fresh sea air. In the background, you’ll find citrus freshness and hints of cereal, and just a trace of peat smoke.

Palate: Sweet, nutty tones come to the fore, with hints of grapes and honey in the background. Floral flavours abound, enhanced with just a hint of dried fruit and spice.

Finish: Soft sweet tones fade gradually away, overlaid with just a trace of gentle peat smoke at the very end.

    Wolfburn 128 Small Batch

    Wolfburn 128 is the first in a series of Small Batch releases from the Thurso distillery. Matured in small ex-Bourbon casks that had previously contained peated whisky, giving a delicate smokiness to the whisky. Peated to just 10ppm. Like all Wolfburn small-batch releases, it got its name from the maturation location, warehouse 1, row 28. Just 6000 bottles were produced.
