Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask possesses a rich history deeply rooted in Speyside whisky tradition. First, James Fleming founded the modern Aberlour distillery in 1879 near a mystical ancient Celtic water spring. For decades, the distillery crafted traditional single malts by utilizing local barley and soft mountain water.
Eventually, the production team modernized their approach by introducing a specialized dual-cask maturation process. Specifically, craftsmen age the new-make spirit separately in two entirely distinct types of oak barrels. First, traditional American oak bourbon barrels soften the raw spirit and infuse creamy vanilla notes.
Simmering concurrently, seasoned European Oloroso sherry butts impart deep ruby colors and rich dried-fruit flavors. After twelve long years, the master blender carefully marries these two distinct liquids together. Consequently, this precise combination creates a perfectly balanced single malt with unmatched depth.
Furthermore, the brand launched this specific Double Cask expression to showcase their exceptional wood-management skills. The expression quickly gained massive global popularity and became the definitive flagship bottle for the distillery. Later, in 2020, Aberlour updated the classic cream label to a sleeker, contemporary appearance. Nevertheless, the award-winning liquid inside the bottle remains exactly the same today. Today, enthusiasts worldwide celebrate this whisky for its signature smooth, sherried, and spicy character.

- Colour: Golden amber with a distinct touch of ruby red.
- Nose: Very soft and rounded. Prominent fruity notes of red apples, ripe pears, and sweet sultanas, beautifully supported by golden honey, creamy vanilla toffee, and a touch of gentle baking spice.
- Palate: Sherried, smooth, and richly flavoured. It features prominent notes of tangy orange, crisp red apple, sweet milk chocolate, and buttery toffee, layered alongside warming elements of ginger, cinnamon, liquorice, and toasted almond.
- Finish: Long-lasting, sweet, and warm. It leaves behind a lingering echo of soft autumn fruit, creamy chocolate, and gentle oak
