Drambuie The Royal Legacy of 1745

A super-premium, limited-edition expression of the famous Scottish whisky liqueur. It was launched in October 2009 at the TFWA Travel Retail exhibition in Cannes to celebrate the centenary of the first commercial bottling of Drambuie in Edinburgh in 1909.

Because it was originally introduced as a luxury travel-retail exclusive and limited to only 2,250 bottles worldwide, it is highly sought after by collectors and whisky enthusiasts. Drambuie crafted an embossed glass decanter to mimic a royal garment, topping the luxury vessel with a heavy cork stopper. The manufacturer houses each decanter in a premium presentation box, while the Drambuie Master Blender hand-signs and individually numbers every bottle.
The Scots Gaelic phrase “An Dram Buidheach” gives the liqueur its name, translating directly to “the drink that satisfies”. Industry experts track its lineage back to 1745, when the elixir served as the personal recipe of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Following his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, the prince fled to the Isle of Skye. To reward the MacKinnon chief for securing his safe passage home, the prince gifted him his secret formulation.
Tasting Profile
    • Appearance: Deep amber gold.
    • Aroma: A complex nose of rich heather honey, warming spices, and a delicate hint of background oak smoke.
    • Palate: Full-bodied and velvety. Bright citrus peel notes and sweet malt blend with a deep herbal complexity, featuring notes of cinnamon, clove, and vanilla.
    • Finish: Exceptionally smooth, dry, and lingering, as the premium malt backbone perfectly balances out the honeyed sweetness
