Jura Origin 10 Year Old Special Edition

The standard “Origin” was released in early 2000’s, but this stylized flavour-mapping gift pack was introduced as a limited holiday and retail push late in the bottle’s production run, but then in April 2018, the Jura distillery discontinued its entire core range of single malt whiskies as part of a major brand overhaul.

The discontinued expressions included:

• Jura Origin 10-Year-Old
• Jura Superstition (a lightly peated expression)
• Jura Prophecy (a heavily peated expression)
• Jura Diurach’s Own 16-Year-Old                                                                                                                              

These were replaced with a new line-up that introduced a different flavour direction for the brand, with new expressions like the new Jura 10, 12, and 18yo.

Despite Islay being its closest neighbour, just like Bunnahabhain and Bruichladdich, Jura ‘Origin’ is an unpeated malt. Equipped in the violin-shaped bottle that would go on to become The Jura’s trademark. Whyte & Mackay Ltd bought the brand in the mid-90s whereupon they enriched the range with older bottlings, notably in the Stillman’s Dram range.
