Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Raku Inoue Limited Edition
In 2024 Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, collaborated with internationally acclaimed artist Raku Inoue to present “A Gift for Blossoming Futures”, a collection of limited-edition designs. Raku personifies the spirit of Glenfiddich, and was inspired by the great outdoors when designing the extraordinary sets. Inoue comments: “My aim was to take you on a journey to the great outdoors, harnessing some of the most magnificent elements. The Glenfiddich Stag is formed and crafted petal by petal, element by element from natural materials, mirroring the time-honoured craftsmanship that has gone into producing the exceptional whiskies.”
The 15 year Old Solera was released in 1998 and imitates the ageing technique used by Spanish sherry producers. Whisky from bourbon, sherry and new oak casks are added to a vat that already contains older whiskies. The same vat has never been emptied since first bottling in 1998 and has always been kept at least half-full. It is not quite a solera in the recognised tradition, but it uses the same process of marrying young whiskies in a maturing vessel that later become older and older as the whisky is bottled.
