Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky. It is a historic, highly regarded expression from the distillery’s pioneering “Wood Finish” series. Production & Cask Maturation
  • Double Cask Aging: The distillery matured this whisky for its initial 10 to 12 years in standard ex-bourbon oak casks.
  • The Finish: They then transferred the liquid into Ruby Port pipe casks for an additional 1 to 2 years.
  • Specifications: The distillery bottled the expression at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Tasting Profile
  • Nose: Rich, fruity aromas deliver clear notes of dark berries, plum, and dark chocolate.
  • Palate: The liquid offers a complex balance of sweet and dry flavours. Jammy port sweetness plays against toasted oak spices, walnuts, and a touch of mint.
  • Finish: A medium-to-long finish tapers into a pleasantly dry conclusion with lingering berry notes.
Historic Significance
This bottle represents a critical era in modern Scotch history. Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden used this product line to popularize “cask finishing” in the 1990s and early 2000s. The entire whisky industry now uses this technique as a standard. In late 2007, Glenmorangie retired this specific label style and recipe. They upgraded the expression to the 12-Year-Old Quinta Ruban, which they bottled at 46% ABV.
