Bladnoch 8 Year Old First Release
Bladnoch distillery was mothballed in by United Distillers in 1993 with Irishman Raymond Armstrong buying, re-furbishing and then re-opening in 2000. This is the first 8 year old release which was launched 3rd October 2009. The distillery closed again in 2014 but was ultimately saved when it was purchased by Australian yogurt tycoon David Prior. The distillery (near Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway) was again reopened in 2017 after extensive renovations. Production resumed in summer 2017, with three stylishly re-branded expressions that were bottled from existing stock.
As well has holding the title for most southerly Scottish distillery, Bladnoch is also one of the oldest, and it seems rather poetic that its Phoenix like resurrection takes place during its bicentennial year.
