Master Distiller Jim McEwan crafted this expression as a profound homage to the heavily peated single malts once produced in the neighbouring village of Port Charlotte until the original Lochindaal distillery closed its doors in 1929.
The team aged this heavily peated spirit for 5 years in a masterful blend of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. These casks rested in the historic, stone-walled coastal warehouses of Lochindaal, absorbing five years of salty Atlantic air. Bruichladdich bottled this powerhouse expression in 2006 at a towering, uncompromised cask strength of 63.5% ABV. The distillery strictly limited production to just 6,038 individually numbered bottles worldwide.
