Wolfburn Gessner First Release 2018.

This is a private release, specially crafted for Swiss wine and whisky merchants, Alexander Weine & Destillate. The bottle celebrates 16th century Conrad Gessner, the Swiss physician, philosopher and zoologist. Gessner’s work is an integral part of the Wolfburn story: the sea-wolf logo is based on an original Gessner woodcut from 17th century publication ‘History of Four-footed Beasts and Serpents‘.  Just 1440 bottles were produced.

Although still a young distillery, Wolfburn was first established in 1821 in Thurso, on Scotland’s far north coast.

Production ceased in 1850s, with Wolfburn’s new distillery started in 2012 very close to the old site. With production starting in 2013, their inaugural expression was released in February 2016.

They continue to make their whisky the same way it was always made: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Wolfburn’s whisky is distilled, matured and bottled on-site.
